Vision: How to stop your sight getting any worse

As we get older, so our sight can deteriorate.  While doctors will tell you it’s just one of those things, there is something you can do to slow, and even stop,  the process, as scientists have discovered this week.

The simple – and effective – response to failing eyesight, known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), is to increase the amount of fatty fish you eat.  Fish such as salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and these seem to offer a protective effect.

In one study of people with existing eyesight problems, those who consumed the most omega-3 were the least likely to develop AMD.
