If you’re worried about getting gallstones, two alcoholic drinks a day could keep them at bay.
Scientists reckon that two units of alcohol – a unit in the UK is equivalent to eight grams - reduce the risk by up to a third. Each unit a week reduces the risk by 3 per cent, estimate scientists at the University of East Anglia.
They estimated the protective qualities of alcohol after assessing the dietary habits of 25,639 adults over a 10-year period, during which time 267 developed gallstones.
