Sweaty hands and feet
For a few years now a reader’s friend has been suffering from sweaty hands and feet, an embarrassing and uncomfortable problem. It is particularly stressful for her as she is a shiatsu practitioner and uses her hands to treat her patients. Interestingly, her father has the same problem. She has tried taking Chinese herbs but they haven’t helped so far. Can readers suggest any other natural remedies?
According to Norene, heavy metal testing should be your friend’s first port of call. “This woman and her father may have had similar environmental exposures and their metabolisms may be affected similarly when the body attempts elimination,” she explains. Indeed, Sally – who suffered from the same problem from years – was told that sweaty hands and feet was a classic symptom of mercury toxicity. Once she had her amalgam fillings removed the problem disappeared.
Anna, however, reckons the condition is a sign of some kind of adrenal problem. “Avoid cold food and drink,” she advises, “as they knock down your adrenal glands.”
The herb sage may also be helpful in treating the problem.
