Shiatsu massage for migraine relief
Dear WDDTY:
Please tell your questioner, S H from Leeds with migraine (Q & A, vol 5 no 10) to try shiatsu massage. Two nodules at the back on either side of the spine where it enters the skull will be prominent at the onset of migraine and can be massaged and reduced.
There are further pressure points along the meridian and above the eyes. All of this can alleviate the severest headaches in 75 to 80 per cent of cases and reduce the pain in the rest.
Many years ago the Migraine Trust was appraised of this and asked to supervise an investigation on their terms. They refused. Hans Lobstein, Brighton.
