Reflexology promotes relief of tension and relaxation

After reading your Alternatives section on reflexology (Vol 4 No 12) I felt I should write to you about my personal findings as a reflexologist. One day per week I voluntarily worked with patients in the Royal Free Hospital in London. There I was able to observe that reflexology often promotes relief of tension and relaxation. Work on specific points related to areas of pain will in most cases give at least temporary relief, even for cancer patients.

The most dramatic response were those in the neurological ward. Stroke patients would experience tingling and even mobility in otherwise paralyzed areas of the body; multiple sclerosis patients would experience relief from muscular spasms and enjoy more flexibility in the hands and feet.
