No need to give up the beer, it's not radioactive
In the September WDDTY (Vol 10, No. 6) you have a report on safe radiation levels. At the end it mentions the use of irradiation in plant breeding, which seems to imply that the beer produced from barley varieties, developed using irradiation to make genetic changes or mutations, could be dangerous.
In fact, this tool in plant breeding merely mimics what happens naturally but in an intensified, speeded up form. Mutations occur all the time naturally.
One of the main causes is radiation from rocks in the ground, from the sun and from elsewhere in the universe.
The seeds grown from irradiation induced mutations are in no way radioactive. So no need to become teetotal not on that account anyway!
