Me could be a reaction to the polio vaccine

Re your article on ME (vol 14 no 12), I contracted the illness after an afternoon spent with two children who had just had their polio vaccine. Others can also relate their illness to this vaccine.

I believe the ME epidemic is caused by the polio vaccine. Although medical opinion presently holds that post-polio is a kind of delayed neuronal damage, I think it more likely that it’s a viral reaction like shingles.

We should follow the US, which changed to the dead vaccine last year - although, having read your vaccine book, I know this is not entirely without problems. - L. Hendy, London
