It doesn't help the old

Laser eye surgery cannot reverse age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common eye problem that affects many over the age of 50. The operation was tested on 1000 participants who were in the early stages of AMD. Each participant had one eye treated by lasers, while the other eye was left untreated. Yet, after five years, the vision loss was similar in both eyes (Ophthalmology, 2006; 113: 1974–86).
