Implants: Scientists finally make the connection to breast cancer

Scientists have suspected it for the longest time, and finally they’ve been able to prove it - breast implants can cause cancer.

Implants have been linked to a rare type of breast cancer known as anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL).  ALCL is a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer that has often been linked to implants, although the association has never before been proven.

Researchers from the Netherlands Cancer Institute reviewed the records of 11 patients with breast lymphoma, and discovered that implants increased the risk by 18 times.
