Hospitals: They can’t guarantee the safety of our children

We all know that hospitals are no place to be if you’re sick – and a new report suggests the same is true for our children.

Most hospitals in the UK cannot guarantee the safety of the children in their care, the Healthcare Commission has concluded.

It has found that three-quarters of all hospitals in the UK were poorly equipped to deal with emergency care.  Nearly one in five do not provide effective life support for children in emergency care, half do not provide adequate training in child protection, and most doctors in outpatient units knew little about pain relief for children.
