Health Controls: Canadians beat Big Pharma

If you ever think you’re powerless against the seemingly indomitable challenges of Big Pharma and law-makers, just remind yourself what the Canadians have just done.

Around 1 million Canadians have rallied against an iniquitous piece of legislation that would have subjected vitamins to the same controls as pharmaceutical drugs.  As a result, the C-51 amendment to the Food and Drugs Act has been defeated, and

Canadians are still free to buy nutritional products.

Canada’s legislators aren’t beaten yet, though.  They are now planning to resurrect these restrictions with a new bill, C-52.

Let’ hope their new gambit is as imaginative as their ability to come up with exciting names.
