Researchers have found that Helicobacter pylori can be caught from someone who has gastroenteritis and not just from infected food.

Researchers monitored 112 children with neurological problems at a care centre in France. They found that those with the symptoms of gastroenteritis could pass on the bug (BMJ, 2004; 329: 204-5).
