Grapefood Seed Extract for H Pylori

As an alternative to the triple whammy amoxycillin flagyl bismuth treatment for H pylori the bug thought to cause ulcers (vol 4 no 6), it may well be worth trying grapefruit seed extract (GSE). GSE has a broad range of anti bacterial activity (including H pylori and campylobacter). It is also antifungal (against candida albicans) and antiparasitic. It is not toxic and not significantly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract hence no side effects.

H pylori may well play a role in ME/chronic fatigue syndrome. In one Australian study, about 10 per cent of CFS patients with gastric symptoms (nausea, abdominal pain, etc) tested positively for H pylori. Tim Byrne, Liverpool....
