We may have got it all wrong: full-fat milk may be better for keeping the weight off than low-fat milk, according to new research published this week.
This controversial idea has been put forward by researchers who analysed the diets and weight of 120 eight-year-old healthy children. The researchers, from Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, in Sweden, discovered that the children who drank full-fat milk weighed on average 4 kg less than those who drank low-fat milk, or who didn’t drink milk at all. Overall, children whose diets were rich in fats had a lower body-mass index (BMI) score than children whose diets were low in fat.
