from short-sighted to long-sighted by laser surgery

Dear WDDTY

Concerning your Q & A on laser eye surgery (Vol 4 No 10), you may be interested to know of the experience of a former colleague of mine. He decided to have the operation done privately and at no little cost to correct shortsightedness of both eyes.

Some weeks after the treatment I noticed that he was still wearing glasses. His right eye, which had been shortsighted before, now had normal sight, but his left eye, which had been shortsighted, was longsighted as a result of the treatment, so he needs the glasses to correct this new problem.
