Fish-oil supplements have helped a small group of schoolchildren to dramatically accelerate their learning skills and stimulate brain growth.
After just three months, the children’s reading abilities were a year ahead of their peers, and their handwriting was neater and more accurate. But, most astonishing of all, their brains showed the sort of development in three months that normally would be seen only after three years.
Brain scans revealed far higher levels of NAA (N-acetylaspartate), a biochemical indicator of brain development.
The children took two supple-ments daily of VegEPA, which con-tains both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and were encouraged to cut down on fast-foods and fizzy drinks, and to be more active (The Times, 12 March 2007).
