If you’re trying to lose weight, don’t have a late-evening meal. Eating late could increase your weight by as much as 48 per cent, researchers have found.
The very worst time to eat is during the night when you get up for a snack instead of sleeping.
This discovery suggests that the calorie-control approach is too simplistic, and that obesity is a far more complex process, say researchers from Northwestern University.
Instead of eating less and exercising more, we should pay more attention to the time when we eat. The researchers noticed that shift workers tend to be overweight because they are invariably eating at the ‘wrong’ times.
