Case study: Drug risks to immune system

Over four years ago I went to my GP to be fitted with an IUD or coil. It immediately caused great pain and inflammation. My GP refused to remove it at first and gave antibiotics with little effect. He eventually removed it.

Later that year after a minor gynaecological operation I collapsed with multiple pulmonary emboli (blocked lung arteries). I did not receive any heparin cover (used to prevent clotting in the veins) despite the fact that the surgeons knew I have previously suffered a deep vein thrombosis while on the contraceptive pill. The emboli occurred three days post op and it took me two weeks to convince my GP that I was very ill and needed hospital treatment.

Despite this, I survived and was maintained on warfarin (a drug to prevent clotting) which was very difficult to stabilize on a set dose. That December I found out I was pregnant, which caused great concern, but my doctors assured me was not life threatening.

At around 30 weeks, I was started on twice daily heparin injections,to continue until 38 weeks. The injection sites quickly became hard, sore and red. I then suffered asthmatic attacks for the first time in my life. I had fiery rashes across my face, arms and some chest pain.

During my induced labour the consultant physician in charge of my case had prescribed dextran to be given to prevent further embolic risk. At the commencement of my dextran drip I went into anaphylactic shock (a severe allergic response to a foreign substance) and had to be resuscitated a very unpleasant experience. Needless to say it was an extremely touch and go situation for both me and my baby son. Thankfully, we both survived.

After the birth my health deteriorated to the point where I am now diagnosed as a substantial asthmatic who incidentally is allergic to every inhaler that has been tried. I receive no health advice at all from my GP. I do go to a homoeopath as my only source of health advice. I have improved greatly under her care.

I have lost all confidence in doctors; since commencing treatment I have changed from a healthy, fit young woman to a chronically sick one who is no longer able to work or maintain a decent lifestyle. AD, Hamilton.

Yours is a shocking example of escalating doctor induced disease. Every bit of advice you have been given down the line has been poor, starting with recommendations for contraception, to the anti blood clotting medication during pregnancy to counter the effects of the pill, to the use of dextran to increase blood circulation, which can cause hypersensitivity reactions.

This drug cocktail has obviously left your immune system exhausted. We would highly recommend that you ditch this insensitive and unresponsive doctor for someone expert in nutrition who, working in tandem perhaps with a skilled alternative practitioner in homoeopathy or herbalism, can begin to rebuild your battered system.
