Blueberry juice that fights diabetes and weight gain
A simple juice that comes from blueberries found across North America may be a very effective way to lose weight and fight diabetes, researchers have discovered.
Blueberry juice that is mixed with the bacteria from the fruit’s skin reduces the glycaemic (blood glucose) levels in a diabetic, and it also protects pre-diabetics against obesity and diabetes.
Researchers from the University of Montreal discovered that the juice becomes a powerful fighter against diabetes and obesity when its flora, called Serratia vaccinii, is mixed with it.
In a laboratory test on mice, those given the fermented juice for three days saw their glycaemic levels fall by 35 per cent.
