Harald Gaier's column (vol 4 no 4) on alternative treatments for asthma might lead readers to think they can buy Ephedra plant preparations in shops. But they can't! The Retail Sale or Supply of Herbal Remedies Order 1977 confines supply to herbal practitioners only.
Similarly, Khella cannot be bought, not because of the law, but because only Potter's make a product from it, and supply of our tablets is confined to herbal practitioners, because of the seriousness of asthma. T J Whittaker, chief chemist, Potters......
