Hypericum for nerves and pain relief

Dear WDDTY

In vol 4 no 4, you report that 23 per cent of patients having epidurals had headaches afterwards.

A member of the homoeopathic group I founded was having injections of a sugar solution into the neck, which was supposed to tighten up the lax ligaments in her cervical spine. One of these injections resulted in a loss of sight in one eye for a short time, followed by an intense pain up one side of the head, which was not relieved by pain killers.

It sounded to me as if the needle had "gone astray" . I gave her Hypericum, a homoeopathic remedy for damage to nerve endings and to the spine. This relieved the pain. By repeating the dose when the pain returned, she found that she could gradually space the doses further apart until she did not need Hypericum any more, as it heals nerves as well as relieving the pain. It is not an orthodox painkiller, but I am sure it would help women with problems after epidurals. P V Williams, Verwood........
