Blepharitis:

A reader last time wanted to hear about any natural remedies that might help this eye condition.

Try N-acetylcysteine (NAC), says one, who enjoyed enough relief from the remedy that he was able to drive. One off-the-shelf version is called Can-C, which includes NAC. A good remedy for night vision is a concoction made up of beta-carotene, vitamins C and E, 50 mg of zinc, and selenium, lutein and bilberry along with enzymes.

Another suggests a saline wash of cool boiled water and salt, which should be applied to eyelids with cottonwool soaked in the solution last thing at night. The lids should then be smeared with Calendula ointment (not cream). Repeat the saline wash in the morning.

One reader has a similar remedy, but suggests mixing a drop of baby shampoo in with the cool boiled water. Another option is to apply dilute sodium bicarbonate, described by one reader as a 'miracle cure'. Obviously, keep your eyes tightly shut when applying.

One reader quotes us (WDDTY)! She recalls reading in an earlier newsletter (paper version, that is) that topically applied manuka honey can help, while another treated her blepharitis successfully by going on an anti-Candida diet together with a probiotic supplement called 3 Lac.
