Rights: one step forward

Patients' rights have taken a step forward in Europe. The Declaration on the Promotion of Patients' Rights in Europe has been unanimously endorsed by 36 European nations, although the Department of Health in the UK is still considering the final pape

The declaration, based on recent legislation from the Netherlands, allows for the deletion or correction of inaccurate medical records, the right to be chosen for treatment on the basis of medical criteria, and the right to be informed about treatments with a minimum of jargon.
