Alternative medicines to treat Colitis

Dear WDDTY

I was very interested to read the letter from J H about colitis and Crohn's disease in the December issue of WDDTY (vol 5 no 9).

In 1983 I was diagnosed as having ulcerative colitis and was ill for a year and a half. I was also treated with prednisolone and otherwise had sulphasalazine, which made me really sick and I deteriorated further.

I had another bad attack at the end of 1985, which again lasted a year and a half.

However, I was very lucky. Through a friend I was introduced to a homeopath, who treated me with homeopathic and Bach Flower remedies.

During the first year I often felt worse mainly emotionally by the end of the second year I was cured. No medication, no operations, even though I had been assured that I would one day have to be operated on and have a colostomy.

To this day I have very few indications of ever having been ill. I lose slight amounts of blood occasionally if under extreme stress, but apart from that I feel perfectly fit.

I recommend to anyone who suffers from this very debilitating disease to try alternative medicine. For me, anyway, it was little short of a miracle. I have not looked back. E Wells, Hastings.........
