Sweaty underarms?

A fate worse than death

Underarm sweating is unpleasant-no, worse, it's foul, disgusting, and the sufferer is rightly treated as a social outcast.

Thank goodness, then, that researchers in Germany have found a way of reducing sweating for up to six months. All it takes is one injection of botulinum toxin, and you'll be welcomed back to. . pardon? Yes, botulinum toxin, the thing that causes botulism, the disease that often leads to paralysis and death.

But better dead than sweaty, we always say (N Engl J Med, 2001; 344: 488-93).
