Yoga breathing can help asthma

In case that puts you off using drugs for asthma, another study found that two yoga breathing exercises can reduce some of your symptoms.

The Respiratory Medicine Unit of the City Hospital in Nottingham tried out two yoga breathing exercises on 22 patients with mild asthma. All aspects of lung function and symptoms improved to some degree. But the most notable change (about 20 per cent improvement) was in the amount of histamine needed to set off the attacks."Our results indicate that simple measures designed to improve control of breathing may contribute to the control of asthma, and that such exercises would be acceptable to many patients," said the report.
