Alzheimer's: A little sunshine may be enough to keep us mentally sharp

While the drugs industry continues to fire blanks in the fight against Alzheimer’s, there seems to be a natural resource that does wonders for mental sharpness and cognition – sunshine.

Older people with high levels of vitamin D – derived either from sunshine or supplements – do far better in mental tests than those with lower levels.

The importance of vitamin D in performing mental skills has been proven in several trials already, and these earlier findings have been confirmed in a new study of 80 patients.
