Proported link between vitamin B12 deficiency and MS

Researchers in America claim to have found a link between a vitamin Bl2 deficiency caused by pernicious anaemia and multiple sclerosis. Two members of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio described an MS patient who hitherto had been treated by corticotropin (ACTH) and corticosteroids.

After stopping the ACTH treatment, the patient was treated with weekly vitamin Bl2 injections. In six months, the patient showed increased strength in one leg and a normal blood count. "All patients diagnosed as having MS should be screened for possible underlying or associated vitamin Bl2 deficiency, " write the Cleveland authors.
