Glaucoma risk just as high with nasal steroids

People with asthma who take high doses of inhaled and nasal steroids are as likely to develop glaucoma as those taking them orally. Investigators from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Canada found that both high dose administration and prolo

Steroids are known to increase pressure in the eye and so the study concluded: "The use of these drugs should be routinely questioned". It recommends: "If patients receive high doses of steroids for several months, ocular pressure should be monitored."
