More cold water poured on flouride debate

I think that your sense of justice went too far when you printed Allan Cook's letter about fluoride (WDDTY vol 10 no 4). It is emotive and ill thought out and abuses the right to free speech.

There is still no objective, independent study to prove that fluoride does teeth any good, but there is plenty of evidence to show that the current craze for fluoridation came about because of all the fluoride left over from American atomic research. It is a highly toxic substance if too much is ingested.

Nobody is disputing the right to take fluoride tablets if they wish to. What most sensible people object to is being forced to take fluoride and far too much if we drink a lot of water when we don't need it.
