Vison Surgery: Laser therapy is more dangerous than they’re telling us

Many more people suffer permanent pain and blurred eyesight following Lasik vision-improving laser surgery than practitioners claim.

At least 2,000 Americans every year experience a worsening of their vision after surgery that’s so bad that their quality of life has deteriorated, and some say they are unable to drive at night.

One young man committed suicide because the effects were so severe, the US’s federal health advisors were told recently.
Around 700,000 Americans have the eye surgery every year, but health advisors are concerned that they are not being told the true risks or that it cannot help everyone.  People who have the surgery to correct their near-sightedness, for instance, are not always advised that they will definitely have to wear corrective glasses in the years ahead.

Advisors to America’s health regulator, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), want to introduce stricter controls and clearer warnings.  People who are diabetic, or have had Herpes, dry eye, severe allergies, or blepharitis should not have the procedure, they say.
