Heart disease: it's in the water

My suspicion is that the major cause for the rise in coronary artery disease this century is due to chlorine in mains water. Chlorine encourages cholesterol deposition, and may also have a direct damaging effect on the arteries.

Coronaries were rare in this country until chlorination was introduced widely about 100 years ago, and are still rare where chlorination is not used as much, like in China.

This theory is expanded on in Coronaries, Cholesterol and Chlorine by Joseph Price (Pyramid Publications). I recently read that coronaries are about a quarter as frequent in France as in this country, which could be as a result of their enthusiasm for using bottled spring water.
